BMF South - Inter Park 10k Challenge

The Challenge is a series of local races throughout 2010 to find BMF South's Inter Park Challenge Champions.

THE CHALLENGE

The search to find BMF South's fastest, fittest and most fun venue is now on. The Inter Park 10k Challenge is a series a local 10k races where each of the BMF South venues will compete against each other to clarify that BMF Brighton is indeed the fastest, fittest and funnest BMF Venue in the South.

Each venue will enter members into local 10k races carefully selected by the BMF Management Team and points will be awarded according to finishing positions. Every member from a venue will score points for finishing so its not just for Park racing snakes.

Although racing against all other competitors, BMF points will be scored against other BMF members as detailed below. At each event, each venue will have its members points totalled to find the event winner. At the end of the series all points will be accumulated and the venue with the most points will be crowned BMF South - Inter Park 10k Challenge Champions and will be showered with prizes and glory.

All the runs are set in this spectacular location with stunning view from the top of the downs. The Firle Estate has very kindly offered onsite camping on Saturday so why not make a short break of it and pop along to the Ram Inn in Firle Village the night before the race to sample some fine ales and tell stories about past runs.

RESULTS & REPORTS

EVENT 5 : Pilgrims Way Run

The fifth event of the series was somewhat unusual in that it was near Maidstone, and was advertised as a 7+ country miles course (actually 8.5miles, much to the annoyance of "real" runners).  Unfortunately it occurred on the Bank Holiday Sunday and BMF M&M decided that unless they have to drive for hours they don't race so it was left to the usual crowd from Brighton and Reigate to enjoy an outstanding run along the Pilgrims Way.  Tom returned to short course racing producing a very strong 4th place overall and helping BMF Brighton to win the team event, no doubt upsetting the serious athletic running clubs

Event 5 Results:

TEAM # Racers Points Average/racer
Brighton 4 79 19.8
Maidstone 0 0 0
Reigate 4 78 19.5
Tunbridge Wells 0 0 0

EVENT 4 : Gallops Run

The fourth event of the series reverted back to the usual scoring system for the brand new Gallops Race at Lingfield Park Race Course. Brighton Tom (despite finishing 4th overall) was disqualified (for looking like Instructor Rikki) so it was down to BMF TW member Paul to lead the BMF competitors home. Another strong outing from Team Reigate means they have now smashed through the 1000 point barrier and disappeared off back to Reigate to celebrate in their "local" pub, leaving Brighton and M&M to enjoy beverages whilst sat on opposite sides of the local pub. Once again all Instructors were disqualified for numerous reasons and scored a big fat zero. Bonus "Area Manager" points were awarded to Andy and Dave of BMF M&M for an outstanding performance riding their horses "My Face" and "My Chest" around the course.

Event 4 Results:

TEAM # Racers Points Average/racer
Brighton 14 216 15.4
Maidstone 4 115 28.8
Reigate 20 330 16.5
Tunbridge Wells 4 73 18.3

EVENT 3 : Superheroes Run

The third event of the series saw a new scoring system implemented as there are actually no timed results for the FUN superheroes race. It was always going to be a strong performance from home team Brighton with a running race that includes dressing up on Hove seafront. Points were award for attendance, Superhero costume, stretcher bearing and BONUS points awarded at the Area Managers discretion. Obviously all Instructors were disqualified for numerous reasons and scored a big fat zero. Bonus points were awarded to Wonderwoman Russell (carrying the ammo liners to the event), BMF TW for the whole team joining in the stretcher bearing, Trish (double points for carrying a future BMFer around for the entire race) and BMF M&M for continuing the superheroes challenge and completing a BMF session in Superhero costumes. Excellent effort from all BMFers at an excellent event. See you next year. If you think you might have been missed off, email me.

Event 3 Results:

TEAM # Racers Points Average/racer
Brighton 23 425 18.5
Maidstone 8 155 19.4
Reigate 6 90 15.0
Tunbridge Wells 3 80 26.7

EVENT 2 : BMF Military 10k

The second event of the series saw double points available at the awesome BMF Military 10k race. Young Tom "Keen Bean" from Brighton again was at the head of the pack but this race belonged to Reigate, with a massive team of 18 enjoying themselves on the new and improved course proving that it's not about speed but quantity! Initially the competition was won by BMF London, as all competitors apparently want to run for "BMF London". Hours spent trawling through lists have produced the results below: If you think you might have been missed off, email me.

Event 2 Results:

TEAM # Racers Points Average/racer
Brighton 8 254 31.8
Maidstone 8 260 32.5
Reigate 18 588 32.7
Tunbridge Wells 8 266 33.3

EVENT 1 : Knole Park 10k

The first event in the championships was an awesome event in a beautiful park in Sevenoaks. Teams from all over BMF South competed scoring points for their Parks. Excellent performances from Tom (Brighton) coming 4th overall and Teresa (TW) coming 3rd in the ladies race. 28 members competed with 50% coming from TW who have firmly put the other parks into the hurt locker. BMF did exceptionally well in the overall event with the TW and Reigate mens teams coming 4th and 6th and the TW and Reigate womens teams 2nd and 5th respectively. The competition is not just for racing snakes and every member at this event scored at least 15 points for their Park. GET ENTERED IN THE NEXT EVENT NOW
